SLJH Spartan Football 7B Team Playoff Victory!

The Seven Lakes Junior High Spartan 7B Football team played their final 2012 game at our stadium at SLHS. The playoff game against the Beck Bulldogs was to determine 7B third place. The Spartans were energized by a small but dedicated group of supporters and cheered on by their families and friends as well as by the 7th grade Spartan Cheerleading and Pep squads. It was a very nice evening with a light pleasant northern breeze to cool the players on the field.

The Beck Bulldogs struck first with a touchdown in the first quarter following a long and hard fought battle in the trenches. However, the Bulldog failed to get any points from their missed kick. The Spartan offense struggled against a very effective defensive Bulldog team. Eventually, they overcame the Bulldog defense when they came through with a spectacular long touchdown run by Alex O. and a perfectly executed two point kick in the forth quarter.

Our Spartan defensive was anchored by a storming defensive line that had the Bulldogs scratching their heads on how to protect their quarterback and backfield. The Spartan defensive backs gave way to a few good pass completions by the Bulldogs but adjusted well at halftime. Their adjustments made it difficult for the Bulldog quarterback to find open targets for the rest of the game.

The game wound down with a series of outstanding defensive plays especially pressuring the Bulldog backfield and shutting down their offensive output. The final defensive battle culminated with a crucial Spartan sack of the Bulldog quarterback by Cameron R., sealing the Spartan 8 to 6 victory over the Beck Bulldogs. 

The game was a hard fought defensive battle where our Spartans prevailed with tenacity, critical plays and several recovered fumbles. They earned their Spartan battle shields with respect and honor!

The Spartan offense was highlighted by plays from Alex O. and Carson R. while the Spartan defense was highlighted by Tanner M., Cameron R., Logan T., Aaron V., Bryce W. and Ariq H.  

At the start of the school year, especially with our new Seven Lakes Junior Highs School, no one could have predicted that the 7 grade Spartans would have wound up doing so well. This was especially sweet for the Spartans as they did so while earning the respect of their opponents.

Congratulations to all of our 2012 first year Spartan Football 7B Team and their coaches for a great year and for setting a lofty goal for next year's team to beat.
